This is a little story about that....about a week ago, one of my daughter's friends lost her cat. He just wandered off. She knew about this in the way that kids do.....immediately. A few nights ago my husband sees a cat near our front porch and mentions it. Daughter tears out of the house to check it out...it's dark and we don't usually go chasing animals that come in our yard because there are many but I can see that something's up with this. She's looking everywhere so I bring her a flashlight and she says that Merlin is missing. Now I know about the missing cat.
The next day there's a flyer under my mailbox with a picture of Merlin and I bring it in and set it on the kitchen counter.
I like to take walks in the woods when I'm sorting things out. I get my exercise and draw on the energy and beauty in the park. Lately I've been going to Highland Park but yesterday I was in a hurry so I went to the Corbett's Glen trails closer to home but still far enough away to drive there. so..I'm hiking to the Glen. It's a sunny beautiful afternoon ~~green all around. I'm on the phone getting sage advice from a fellow investor who tells me if I'm uncomfortable then I'm on the "right path". Can't grow without feeling a little discomfort. Push past your comfort zone and move ahead. While I'm getting this bit of wisdom, I'm turning down a path that walks by the creek, by the waterfalls actually because they are quite loud! This part of the path opens up to a wide grassy area by the water on my right and ground cover and trees on my left. I hear a cat crying but don't see one. I sense where it's coming from and turn into the woods where there's a tiny trail. Meow, Meeow,Meeoow..closer. Then the little guy pops out from under all the plants. He's cute. Has a collar on with a little bell. VERY friendly. Rubs my leg...I pet him and he's purring sooo loud. I'm still talking with Joe but I'm thinking...could this be Merlin? Way over here? He's tiny, like Merlin and he doesn't seem to belong here. So I finish talking so I can take a picture with my phone and send it to my daughter. The cat is following me. A woman in the park asks if it's my cat because he's been hanging around me so she must assume it's mine. She says she "thinks he's lost...been here for awhile...some kids said he crossed the creek this morning." When she said that...I believed it could be Merlin. Then my daughter calls back and says she thinks it's him...bring him home. Uh...No. I want to be sure, don't need another cat and I am far from home and the car. I ask her to call her friend to see if this is her cat. Well...Kara, the woman I was talking with, owns a pet sitting service. She gives me her card and # to call if it's Merlin and leaves with the cat. Skye calls back and says her friend is walking in front of the house right now! Imagine that. So she runs out, shows her the picture and I hear happy screaming and figure...uh oh...I better go get that cat! So I turn back on the trail and run, trying to find Kara. Mysteriously...no one has seen a woman holding a cat...jeez, how far could she have gone?? Then I see her over by a car. There are some houses in the Glen and the man that lives in this one is out talking with Kara and the cat! I run over and announce that Yup, it's Merlin. I take the cat and wonder if I can get all of the way back up the trail with the squirming Merlin..Kara says..Jeff will drive you back to the car. Okay. That's even further than walking back but I figured at least I won't lose the cat. We get in the car and Merlin's not too pleased with this turn of events...it is HOT and we have the windows closed to be safe but he's letting us know he's not happy! He is WAILING and pacing. You know what I mean. I said..
"hey Jeff, I think you may know who owns this cat because I remember her telling(Cool train tracks run around the property...a kid's dream come true.) I tell him her name and sure enough! He knows her dad...."what a great guy...always enjoy talking to him...got to know him with my saving the Glen work." Small World.
me once a while back that she's ridden on your mini train set. "
Once we were in my car, it was only a few minutes home where Merlin was reunited with his very happy owner!
So that's Merlin's Magical Adventure. Coincidence?
